QUINTA DAS LAVANDAS - SÍTIO DE VALE DORNAS, CASTELO DE VIDE
Quinta das Lavandas is located at the heart of the Serra de São Mamede Natural Park, just 4 km from the center of Castelo de Vide, one of the most beautiful towns in the Portugal. This magnificent and unique country estate house has 20 acres of lavenders plantation.
In the surroundings, there are multiple activities: birdwatching, hiking, dams, river, mountains and riding centres, which invite you to wander around the region and discover the true Alentejo.
Quinta das Lavandas also has an alembic to distil the essential oils from the lavender produced on the farm. Watching it distilling during the flowering months, using the steam distillation technique, is one of the activities proposed to guests and visitors.
There are about 65 thousand lavender plants in two varieties: Lavandula angustifolia and Lavandim grosso bleu, whose main purpose is the production of essential oils and traditional products.

All the property was reconverted into an agrotourism project and has the lavender as its great protagonist.
In the farm there are about 65 thousand feet of lavender (Lavender) divided in two main varieties: Lavandula angustifolia and Lavandim thick bleu. The main purpose of this plantation of lavenders is the production of essential oils and the development of traditional products.
Quinta das Lavandas is the result of the will of two people: Teresa Tomé and Estevão de Moura, who thought and believed in a unique and innovative project. The main house and outbuildings were adapted into agritourism and are perfectly aligned with this environment of excellence. Here you can relax, enjoy the comfort and pleasant 7 bedrooms, the balconies, the swimming pool and many agricultural and leisure activities.
In the amazing Lavenders' garden, the guests and visitors, can observe the largest existing collection of lavenders in Portugal, with more than 40 varieties of lavender in many different colors (white, pink, red, lilac) and different forms. Furthermore, here the guests can engage in multiple activities: birdwatching, walking, hiking, biking, riding, enjoying the surroundings, bathing in the dam of Póvoa e Meadas, visiting the historic centers the mountains or simply discover the real Alentejo.
Quinta das Lavandas also has an alembic for the distillation of the oils from the lavenders produced on the farm. Seeing it being distilled during the flowering months using the steam dragging techniques is one of the activities we propose to our guests and visitors.
Occupying free time is not a problem on Quinta das Lavandas. Located on an amazing region, with signs of occupation since immemorial times and historical artifacts from several eras, the difficulty will be to choose what to do. But, between walking and observing the pre historical sites located near the farm, taking a bath on the Póvoa and Meada dam, walking on the middle of the rock encrusted mountain, watching the night sky, see the sunrise or the moon, ride bicycles, the choice is yours.
