It is a land full of cultural and historical roots, of beautiful and immense landscapes, land of beautiful churches, chapels, crosses, manor houses. It was granted a charter in 1514 by D. Manuel I and given the title of "vila". The constructions with religious purposes assume an evident prominence in the patrimony of Lousada. Examples are the churches of S. Miguel, Senhor dos Aflitos, Aveleda and Pias. The pillory, the Moorish Tower and the romanic bridges of Vilela and Espindo are also worth mentioning.
